Croes, Well-Known Wessington Resident Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church in Wessington Thursday afternoon for John Croes, a resident of this area for 78 years. Mr. Croes had been in failing health the past years, and death came at his home here. Loftus Ward had charge of the services and burial was in the Wessington cemetery. John Franklin Croes was born February 12, 1878 in Philadelphia, the son of John F. and Barbara Ann Croes. At the age of three the family moved to Abilene and when he was five the family moved to Wessington where he has since lived. He was married to Dora May Sweet in November of 1901. Mr. Croes operated a garage and service station here and for many, many years was the City Justice of Peace. Surviving are a brother, C. W. Croes of Aberdeen, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Hain of Wessington. Preceding him in death were his wife and brother, Howard .
