Read More	Defiance Crescent-News Obituary John Franklin Dunbar, 84, died Wednesday, February 25, 1953 at 10:45 p.m. at his residence on route 8, Defiance, in Highland township after being ill with carcinoma nine months, seriously since October. Mr. Dunbar, who had been a farmer all of his life, was born in Tiffin township on October 24, 1868. When 5 years old, he moved with his parents, Arthur and Martha (Miller) Dunbar, to a farm near Jewell where he resided until moving to Highland township three years ago. The body is at the Mansfield and Mast funeral home until Saturday at 1 p.m. Then it will be taken to Independence Methodist church of which he was a member, to lie in state for an hour prior to rites at 2 o'clock. Rev. Ross Hurley, Ayersville Methodist minister, and Rev. Carlos Wickham of Florida, pastor of Independence Methodist church, will officiate. Independence cemetery will be the place of burial. He was first married to Eliza Seiple who died in 1906. They had three children; Gladys who died in infancy; and Lawrence Dunbar, route 4, and Mrs. Julius (Frances) Leach, 200 Hopkins Street. In 1915, he married Edith Mae Brubaker who survives. They had the following four children: John Franklin Dunbar Jr., Independence, Mrs. Gordon (Doris) Rowe, Troy, Ohio, Bernard Dunbar, 212 Webster Street, and Edward Paul Dunbar, at home. There are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A. C. Dunbar, route 4, a brother, also survives. Three brothers and three sisters who preceded him in death were William, Charles and Bert Dunbar, and Mrs. Mary Taylor, Mrs. Hattie Sweinhagen and Mrs. Fannie Mayer.
