Mr. Diehl was a retired vice president of Diehl Inc. in Defiance, Ohio. He was president of the Franklin Milk Co. in Jonesboro, Tenn. He resided in Defiance, Ohio until 1956 and lived in Johnson City, Tenn. from 1956 until 1987 when he moved to Roanoke. He was past president of the Chamber of Commerce in Johnson City, Tenn. Read More	John Frederick Diehl Sr., 76, of Roanoke, died Saturday, February 25, 1995, at this home. He was a veteran of WW II. Mr. Diehl was a retired vice president of Diehl Inc. in Defiance, Ohio. He was president of the Franklin Milk Co. in Jonesboro, Tenn. He resided in Defiance, Ohio until 1956 and lived in Johnson City, Tenn. from 1956 until 1987 when he moved to Roanoke. He was past president of the Chamber of Commerce in Johnson City, Tenn. Mr. Diehl was always active in civic and community affairs and his church. He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Johnson City, and Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie G. Diehl and his parents, Albert F. Diehl and Emma S. Diehl. John was dearly loved by the lives he touched. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hudson Diehl; children, Debbie and Dave Tanis, Barbie and J. C. Winstead, John and Carla Diehl, and Judy Diehl; grandchildren, Mark Tanis, Katie Tanis, Kelly Pollock, John Pollock, Caroline Diehl, Charlotte Diehl, and Jimmy Diehl; step children and grandchildren Robin Poteet, Suzy, Dick, Chris and Emily Peverall, Chris, Lee and Sally Hudson, Anne, Jeff, Ben and Moss Armistead; brother, William A. Diehl; sister, Mary P. Eifrig; also numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Memorial services will be held at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church, 3 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. D. Michael Meloy officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South Chapel. John's body will be taken to Ohio where services will be held in St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in Defiance, Ohio. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.
