Read More	Source: The Victor Record 10/21/1926 FUNERAL HELD FOR FORMER VICTOR RESIDENT John Frederick Schulte Passes Away at Home in Manly John Frederick Schulte, formerly engaged in the drug business in Victor, died at his home in Manly, Iowa, Saturday, Oct. 16. His store was formerly located in the building now occupied by the City Cafe. At the time of his death he was aged 57 years, 11 months and 29 days. John Frederick Schulte, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Schulte, was born in Clayton county, Iowa, on Nov. 17, 1868. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He graduated from Iowa State college as a pharmacist and immediately afterwards he opened business in Victor as a druggist. In 1902 he was married to Alice Maude Hyter in Des Moines, Mr. Schulte remained in the drug business here until 1907, when he removed to Rock Valley, Iowa, and started a drug store at that place. In the spring of 1910 he moved to Manly, Iowa, and became cashier of the Farmers Savings bank, where he remained until the receivership in 1925. He held several city and school offices and at the time of his death was city treasurer and treasurer of the school district. He was an active and enthusiastic member of several lodges. Surviving him are two children, Frederick H. Schulte of Kensett, Iowa, and Alice R. Schulte of Baltimore, Md., three brothers, H. H. and F. W. Schulte of Manly, Iowa, and August Schulte of Jefferson, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bierbaum of Clayton, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Deman of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Louise Simmons of Baltimore, Md., and his mother, who resides in Clayton county, Iowa. The years in Manly were a collection of joys and sorrows, starting with the loss of his wife in 1910. In the spring of 1915 he was again grief stricken by the loss of his oldest daughter, Margaret Eva. Another shock czme in 1924 by the death of his mother-in-law, Margaret Hyter, who had cared for the family since Mrs. Schulte's death in 1910. Mr. Schulte also lost a sun, George, in Victor, Iowa. The last three years of Mr. Schulte's live were ones of continual hardship and sorrow, due to the strenuous condition of banking and failing health. All this time he suffered from partial paralysis of the throat. He was stricken with pneumonia and in his weakened condition, his illness as of short duration, passing on to his reward on Saturday, Oct. 16. The body was brought to Victor and the funeral was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Methodist church. Rev. N. A. Swickard of Guernsey preached the sermon and was assisted by Rev. G. A. Schmidt. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The Masonic lodge of Victor attended in a body and conducted the burial ritual of their order.
