Description	:	John Frederick William Pfeifer, son of Frederick and Martha Graf Pfeifer, was born in Waverly, Ohio on August 12, 1861, and departed this life at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, April 25, 1947, aged 85 years, 8 months and 13 days. On February 11, 1886 he was united in marriage to Margaret Cochenour, also of Waverly, and they immediately came to Iowa, going from there to Kansas the same spring where they remained five months. Read More	John Frederick William Pfeifer, son of Frederick and Martha Graf Pfeifer, was born in Waverly, Ohio on August 12, 1861, and departed this life at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, April 25, 1947, aged 85 years, 8 months and 13 days. On February 11, 1886 he was united in marriage to Margaret Cochenour, also of Waverly, and they immediately came to Iowa, going from there to Kansas the same spring where they remained five months. They then returned to Iowa and settled near Bentonsport, living there for one year. Then they moved to a farm near Big Mound where they lived until 1920 when they moved to Bonaparte which has been their home ever since. To this union were born six children, Mary who died at the age of 8 years, John and Mrs. Hazel Schrepfer of Hillsboro, Bryan of Chicago, Mrs. Margie Vickers and Mrs. Mabel Woods of Bonaparte. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters, four brothers, Charles, Arthur and Otto of Waverly, Ohio, and Oscar of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Mettie and Mrs. Anna Sautters of Waverly, Ohio, and Minnie Boland of Chicago; 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives. Mr. Pfeifer's parents came from Germany, his father from Prussia and his mother from Bavaria. Although very young then he could remember the last of the Civil War, and of hearing the neighbors talk of the preparations they had made for defense if the Confederates came that far north. He liked to tell stories of his younger days, and the great changes in living conditions which have taken place during his long life. He was interested in his community, always ready to give help where he could, he was a kind father, a loyal companion to his wife and a good neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Bonaparte, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.S. Ellis. Burial was in Vale cemetery. Pall bearers were grandsons, Scott and Gene Pfeifer, Gilbert, Stanton, Warren and Laurence Schrepfer. Mr. and Mrs. Hurless Allen, Charles Pfeifer, Arthur Pfeifer, George Pfeifer and Mr. Allen's brother came from Waverly, Ohio, to the William Pfeifer came on Saturday evening, returning to Waverly on Sunday evening. Charles and Arthur Pfeifer are brothers of William Pfeifer. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Schrepfer came from Stronghurst, Ill. to attend the funeral of his grandfather
