Description	:	Jamestown Sun, August 1978 John G. Olson, 85, of Jamestown, retired farmer and carpenter, died Sunday at Jamestown Hospital after having been in failing health for several years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am in Eddy Funeral Chapel and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Born May 4, 1893, at Tyler, Minn., Mr. Olson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Olson. He attended Minnesota schools and came to North Dakota in 1909, settling in the Streeter area. Born May 4, 1893, at Tyler, Minn., Mr. Olson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Olson. He attended Minnesota schools and came to North Dakota in 1909, settling in the Streeter area. His marriage to Caroline Rue took place March 11, 1918, at Napoleon. Mr. Olson entered military service March 28, 1918, at Napoleon and was discharged April 19, 1919, at Camp Dodge,Iowa. Returning to Streeter, he farmed in that community for 31 years. They moved to Jamestown in 1950 where the home has been since. While residing in Jamestown, Mr. Olson did carpenter work in the area. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife; nine children, Mrs. Harold Lehrke (Crystal), Mrs. Ervin Larson (Lila), and Leon Olson, Jamestown; Orval Olson, New Boston, Tex.; Clifford Olson, Sullivan, Ill.; Charles [Vern] Olson, San Pablo, Calif.; Orlin Olson, South Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. James Staloch (Hazel), Medina, and Norris Olson, Portland, Ore.; 39 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Mrs. Annie Engebretson, Litchville, and Mrs. Arnie Haro (Mabel), Lamoure; and one half-brother, Clarence Olson, Wright, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and four grandchildren.
