POINSETT succumbs to Cancer at Soldiers' Home-Funeral Friday afternoon. --- Marshalltown, Jan. 20. John G. POINSETT, a member of the Soldiers' Home from Oelwein, Died at the Home hosp. of cancer of the stomach. He had been a member of the home since Oct. 13, 1904. Mr. POINSETT was a native of Bedford Co., PA, where he was born Aug. 29, 1836. He enlisted in Co. A, 28th Illinois Inf. at Havana, IL, Aug. 1, 1861, & served until Mar. 15, 1866, when he was discharged at Brownsville, TX. Aside from his wife, Mrs. Sarah Belle POINSETT, who is a member of the home, Mr. POINSETT, is survived by one dau., Mrs. Anna E. BRETS, of Council Bluffs. Mrs. BRENS & her son are here. The funeral was held from the assembly hall Fri. afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Jesse COLE officiating, interment was in the home cem.
