License issued April 14. ===================== Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Saturday, May 5, 1906; pg. 8 The Altar - At St. Stephens Catholic church (sic) Monday morning at 10 o'clock occurred the marriage of Miss Mary Eteffens (sic) and Mr. John Derra, in the presence of quite a number of invited friends, Rev. Father Hahn officiating. The bride and groom are among St. Stephens' highly respected and best young people and their marriage affords an opportunity for the very best congratuiations (sic) from their hose of friends among whom they have lived and hold their highest esteem. The groom is a prosperous farmer and will begin wedded life under the most favorable circumstances on his farm south of Lawrence where they will be at home to their friends after a few weeks of preparation and arrangement. A reception was held at the home of the bride after the ceremony and a feast of good things to eat was spread for those who were present at the wedding dinner. A dance was also given in the evening for the pleasure of those who delight in the waltz and quadrille. =========================== The Campbell Citizen (Campbell, NE), Thursday, May 1, 1913; pg. 5 John Derra Died Wednesday Word was phoned to town, Wednesday afternoon that John Derra had died. His illness was cerebro spinal meningitis, having been suddenly stricken in the morning of April 22nd. From the time the serious nature of his case was discover everything possible was done to combat the awful disease. Local doctors worked with Dr. Hopkins of Hastings, who administered daily the new serum treatment. A trained nurse and the father of the diseased worked patiently over him during the week to ease and sustain him during his trying hours. His wife and mother were also there In the grief of death they can surely feel that they did all in their power to comfort him and if possible to restore him to health. We are informed that Mr. Derra died on the seventh anniversary of his marriage. Funeral services will be held this Thursday evening which owing to legal requirements must be private — Lawrence Locomotive. ================== The Blue Hill Leader (Blue Hill, NE), Friday, May 2, 1913; pg. 1 John Derra, of Lawrence, died suddenly Wednesday of this week. He is the son of Chris Derra of Campbell, and well known in this community. Mr. Derra leaves a wife and two children.
