Description	:	John George Krug was born at Aurora, Illinois on March 7, 1854. There he was baptized a few days later in the Lutheran church by Rev. Schliepsick, later in the year 1869 being confirmed in the same year by the same pastor. In 1874 Mr. Krug came to Nebraska with his parents. They bought a farm four miles southwest of Kramer. On the home place... Read More	John George Krug was born at Aurora, Illinois on March 7, 1854. There he was baptized a few days later in the Lutheran church by Rev. Schliepsick, later in the year 1869 being confirmed in the same year by the same pastor. In 1874 Mr. Krug came to Nebraska with his parents. They bought a farm four miles southwest of Kramer. This has been the home place of the Krug family ever since. First for his parents, then after their death in 1892 the home of the deceased with two of his children, Louise and John. On the home place he also died like his parents on last Friday morning, reaching the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 15 days. Burial was from St. John Lutheran Church at Kramer last Saturday afternoon. He, as well as his parents and children, have always been faithful members of this church. The large attendance at his funeral, not only shows the position he had in the community as friend and neighbor, but also is a testimony of honor and respect given him by those who belonged to the same congregation. He was entrusted the office of elder in his church for several years. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery at Kramer. Rev. Albert H. Cholcher, the family pastor, officiated at the home, church, and at the grave. He is survived by three children: Louise and John, both living on the home place; and Mrs. W. Fangmeier, also living near Kramer; three sisters: Mrs. Mary Behrens, Mrs. Margaret Kistinger, and Mrs. H. Kahle, all living in or near Crete; also six grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends, a host of whom came a great distance to attend the funeral. Mr. Krug enjoyed comparatively good health until about two weeks before his death. He then began to fail. A cancer formed in his mouth which eventually brought a quick but at the same time a peaceful death. He was conscious almost to the end. Thus again has passed away one of the old pioneers of this community and one of the faithful of St. John Lutheran Church. We do well to imitate their work and faithfulness in church and community.
