Description	:	Coon Rapids Enterprise March 8,1946 John Gerber, 86, Pioneer resident of this community, passed away at his home here shortly after noon last Friday following a short illness with pneumonia. Funeral services were held at Annunciation Church Monday morning with the Reverend Kenneth Ward of Des Moines in charge. Casket bearers were George Schultes, W. J. Kupka, George Kult, Lee Miller, Jack Lynn and Ambrose Weeks. Burial was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. John Gerber was born in Peru, LaSalle County, Illinois September 16, 1859 and when but a small boy moved with his parents to Waterloo, Iowa. In 1874 he came with his parents in a covered wagon to Carroll County, locating at Roselle. He married Elizabeth Bornbach November 14, 1882 into this union nine children were born: Henry of Stuart, John C. of Sutherland, Nebraska, Mary Ruddy of Audubon, Lena Schultz, Susie Weeks, Frank, Elizabeth and Jake of Coon Rapids. One son, Pete died 1900. Mrs. Gerber died in 1939. Left to mourn his passing are his children, 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, one sister, Catherine Greteman of Templeton, and a brother, William Gerber of California, as well as many friends. While Mr. Gerber was a farmer he was also well known as a thresherman for he operated a threshing rig for many years. Mr. Gerber was always faithful to the Catholic church. He was a good friend and neighbor and his friends were many. Relatives from out of town attending the funeral included Ed Meyer, John Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Genhoff, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leiting and Mrs. Frank Winkelbauer of Randolph, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs Albert Langenfeld of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Molitor, Mrs. Barney Reilly and Pete Gerber of Worthington Minnesota. Frank and John Balk of Hartford, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Gerber, Bethane Gerber and Norma Gerber of Stuart, Bernice Gerber of Creston, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Uckleman, Mr. and Mrs. Vernis Jurgens, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Bornbach and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Frank of Carroll, Mrs Catherine Greteman of Templeton, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Klepper of Defiance. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Ruddy, Mr. and Mrs. George Greteman, Mr. and Mrs. John Ruddy, Darleen Ruddy and Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Jurgens of Audubon, J. C.
