Description	:	According to Susie Glenn Vance, a great-granddaughter, in her biography of grandfather John Clark Glenn, one of the children who said his father was born in Ireland on the 1880 U.S. Census, "John Glenn, Senr, emigrated as he was of Scotch-Irish descent", which would probably indicate from N. Ireland as the Scottish, mostly Presbyterian settlers from Scotland to N. Ireland, had almost as much trouble with English authority as the native Irish Catholics. It was formerly Shenandoah Co when he died in 1825, as Page Co did not come into being till 1831. See his iron furnace trail... Young (Mildred Glenn Young, Russell Glenn, William Wallace Glenn, John Clark Glenn, John Glenn, Senr) "Back on the iron furnace scene we find most notable references to John Glenn, within documented history of the original construction of the University of Virginia. This endeavor was the culmination and realization of Thomas Jefferson's dream. As early as May 14, 1821, we find Jno Glenn to be the bearer of the delivery of 9 small Franklin [email protected]$135, as contracted by Blackford, Arthur & Co. to support the ongoIng construction of the famed "Lawn" (mall) pavilions" at UVA. Again in June of 1822, we also find some "sixty-six sash weight sent you by bearer Mr. Glenn." Note: Blackford Cemetery contains many graves that had wooden markers, since destroyed by time and overgrowth, of paid Black workers.
