Description	:	It is believed John was the son of Eli and Polly Ann Williams Denio although this information has not been fully proved. His first wife was Louisa Brown whom it is believed died around 1867-68 and his second wife was Evangeline Strang whom he married in 1867. John joined the Strangite Mormon group that settled on Beaver Island, Michigan, in the late 1840's to the early 1850's. Denio's second wife, Evangeline Strang, was the daughter of James Jesse Strang, and Strang's 3rd plural wife, Elizabeth Strang. Although this marriage took place after Strang's death in 1857, Denio worked his way up the ladder of the Reformed Church of Latter Day Saints as he was a revered member of the Church in Lamoni, Iowa, when he passed away. He was survived by his wife, Eva, of Lamoni; four sons, Joseph, Blackfoot, Idaho; Jesse, Gladstone, Michigan, David, Erwin, and Henry, of Lamoni; and one daughter, Melvina, of Lamoni. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elmina, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Obituary taken from, "The Lamoni Chronicle," June 24, 1897: Denio - on Monday, June 21, at his home in Lamoni, Elder John Denio of the Latter Day Saints, aged 71 years, passed peacefully from this life to the great eternity. His disease was consumption and he had been lingering between life and death, suffering intensely for a long time. Elder Denio was a native of Jefferson County, New York, but for the past ten years had been a resident of Decatur County, at Leon, Davis City and Lamoni. To all who know him here he was an honorable, upright husband, father, and officer in the church of which he was a member. His wife, four sons and one daughter mourn his death. Funeral services were held at the L.D.S. chruch Tuesday afternoon, June 22, Elder Henry A. Stebbins preaching the sermon, being assisted by President Joseph Smith in conducting the services.
