Description	:	Boone Co Democrat 28 Apr 1899 John Chandler, a former Boone man, was killed at Ardmore, S.D. on Saturday. He was in the employ of the railroad company of that place in the capacity of conductor and while assisting in switching in the yards at that place he was knocked from the top of a box car and fell beneath the wheels. His lower limbs were badly mangled, besides being injuries internally and he died shortly afterwards. Read More	Boone Co Democrat 28 Apr 1899 John Chandler, a former Boone man, was killed at Ardmore, S.D. on Saturday. He was in the employ of the railroad company of that place in the capacity of conductor and while assisting in switching in the yards at that place he was knocked from the top of a box car and fell beneath the wheels. His lower limbs were badly mangled, besides being injuries internally and he died shortly afterwards. The remains were brought to this city at 9:45 o'clock Monday evening and taken to the home of John Malcomb at Incline, a brother of Mrs. Chandler. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the First Baptist church, services being conducted by Rev. R.M. Archer. Interment was in East Linwood. The deceased was born in England October 22, 1860. When six years of age he came to this country. In 1883 he was married to Miss Emma Malcomb and shortly afterwards removed to this city. They resided here until seven years ago when they removed to Nebraska. Besides a wife he leaves three children, Eva, Lillie and Lois, the oldest sixteen and the two youngest twins eight years each. A brother Joseph of Logansport, and sister, Mrs. Della Braman of Omaha, were present at the funeral. He was a member of the O.R.C. and the Woodmen and carried considerable insurance.
