Description	:	Coon Rapids Enterprise May 3, 1929 John H. Esdohr passed away at his home here Tuesday night following a long illness with cancer of the bladder. He had been confined to his bed for weeks and several different times there was thought to be dying, but always rallied. Once or twice it looked like he might be improving and would again be up. Esdohr passed away at his home here Tuesday night following a long illness with cancer of the bladder. He had been confined to his bed for weeks and several different times there was thought to be dying, but always rallied. Once or twice it looked like he might be improving and would again be up. But the long struggle terminated as the doctors had predicted months before. Mr. Esdohr had undergone three operations in an effort to arrest the insidious malady. Mr. Esdohr was 73 years old and had been a figure in the town’s business circles for 25 years or more. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Chicago when a young man of 21. He was an expert bookkeeper and worked at this for some years. Finally settled on a farm northeast of Coon Rapids and a few years later moved into town and went into the mercantile business. Later he was in the billiard hall for the past 10 years and has been the senior partner in the Esdohr and Esdohr cafe He was a genial man, and a substantial citizen. He always had a joke when the occasion required it, and a host of friends will miss a man who filled his place in the world, and who was a man worthwhile.
