Mother Helen marries James Waddington some weeks later on Aug 26 and the 1900 census records that, the following year, Helen, James and young John leave for the US. Mother remarries Abraham Jewett in 1849. ---------- J.H. WADDINGTON DIES John H. Waddington died at the home of his daughter Mrs. James Grooms near Chillicothe Thursday evening. He was 82 years old and a native of England. His survivors are his children: Mrs. James Grooms of Chillicothe, Edward of Ottumwa, Mrs. Harry Stevens of Ottumwa, Mrs. George Bowen of Chillicothe, Mrs. William Stevens of Dudley, James G. Waddington of Chillicothe and George Waddington of Kirkville; also a brother James Waddington of Des Moines; a half-brother Joseph Jewett of Los Angeles, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Peter Nelson of Batavia and Mrs. George Culbertson of Ottumwa. The funeral services were held at 1:45 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Chillicothe Methodist Episcopal church, with Rev. Harold Singer of Mt. Pleasant in charge.
