Description	:	Mr. John Harmon Culler, was born in 1837, on the old Culler homestead in Jefferson District. He received the usual education of a farmer's son, in the public schools and on the farm. In March 1861, he married Lucinda, daughter of Jacob and Lena (Coblentz) Kefauver. They made their home on the farm which was Mr. Culler's birthplace, and which he bought after his father's death. Read More	Mr. John Harmon Culler, was born in 1837, on the old Culler homestead in Jefferson District. He received the usual education of a farmer's son, in the public schools and on the farm. In March 1861, he married Lucinda, daughter of Jacob and Lena (Coblentz) Kefauver. They made their home on the farm which was Mr. Culler's birthplace, and which he bought after his father's death. This ws a fertile farm of 246 acres, situataed on the Middletown Road, two miles north of Jefferson. Mr. Culler was one of the most progressive farmers of the Middletown Valley, and was very succesful in his methods. He improved his property in every respect and finally divided the land, making two fine farms which were numbered among the best properties in the county. He equipped the second place with a comfortable two-story frame dwelling, a bank barn and all the necessary outbuildings. Mr. Culler was highly esteemed as a citizen and as a successful business man. His good fortune was due to industry and close attention to buinsess, and his life was spent on this farm where he died on October 7, 1898, and was buried in the cemetery of the Lutheran Church in Jefferson. He was a Lutheran and served his church as elder. He was an active member and a liberal contributor to that church. He was a Republican in politics. John H. Culler married Lucinda C. Kefauver, daughter of Jacob Kefauver, who was born at Middletown, Md. His widow resided with her daughter, Miss Annie Horine. Their children were: . 1. Anna V. (Mrs. Luther A. Horine). 2. George, married Miss Rose Lewis. 3. John W., living near Church Hill, Frederick County, married Miss Sally Zimmerman. 4. Ella (Mrs. Henry Stockman), of Jefferson. 5. Jacob, farmer, of Jefferson District, married Miss Grace Keller. 6. Silas Harmon, who was educated for the ministry at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and ordained at Martinsburg, West Virginia. He officiated at Reisterstown, Baltimore, County, Maryland. 7. Dorsey Spangeler, farmer of Jefferson District, who married Miss Jane Ramsberger. One child, Mary E, died in her third year.
