Harold "Bead" READ, 93, Route 1, Morocco, formerly of Akron and Rochester, died at 5:12 p.m. Monday at George Aide Memorial Nursing Home, Brook. He was born near Monticello to Rev. John W. and Sattie Addie DICKEY READ. He lived in Akron beginning in 1908, although he spent three years in Chicago and later lived in Rochester. He attended Depauw University in Greencastle from 1020-1923 and graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago in 1926. He was married to Mildred Louise SHEETS who died March 8, 1975. In 1976 he married Helen VanDUYNE who died in April 1988. He was a deputy auditor for Fulton County 1936-1940, and was elected as county auditor for two terms from 1940-1944 when he resigned to become auditor for the State Board of Accounts in Indianapolis. He worked there until his retirement in 1970. His mother eompleted his term as county auditor from 1945-1948 in Fulton County. He had attended the First Baptist Church in Rochester and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, t0-year member of the Rochester I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 47, Rochester F&AM Lodge No. 79, Scottish Rite in South Bend, and the Mizpah Shrine Temple in Fort Wayne. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn WESTON, Morocco, a granddaughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Kathleen) SIGO, Brook; and a grandson John "Deb" WESTON, Anderson. Preceding in death were his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic Lodge No.79 will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
