Description	:	Death of John Hartmann John Hartmann, one of the pioneer residents of Plymouth county died at his home on Center street on Sunday evening at half past ten o'clock. He was taken with an internal hemorrhage about three hours before his death and sank rapidly never rallying. His death was due to old age. Read More	Death of John Hartmann John Hartmann, one of the pioneer residents of Plymouth county died at his home on Center street on Sunday evening at half past ten o'clock. He was taken with an internal hemorrhage about three hours before his death and sank rapidly never rallying. His death was due to old age. He was out on the streets on Saturday apparently in his usual health. Mr. Hartmann was born in Hesse Dramstadt, Germany on April 1, 1819. When young he came to the United States and for many years was a resident of Baltimore. In 1869 he came to the west and located on a farm in the Floyd Valley near Melbourne. Here he farmed for many years and then came to LeMars to spend his declining years. His wife died in this city in March, 1903. He leaves two sons and three daughters. They are Theo. Hartman who lives on the old farm; Chris Hartmann, of Sioux City, Mrs. M. Hines, of Ellendale; Mrs. L. Danzgeglock of Baltimore and Mrs. J. P. Strouse of this city. He also had a stepson, John Davis, who lives at McCook, S.D. Mr. Hartmann in his early days saw service as a soldier in the German army and also served in the army during the Civil War. He was well known to the old residents of the county.
