Armstrong, 70, who died at his home here Friday, will be held at the Greeley Methodist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Mr. Schepley, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in the Greeley cemetery. Son of the late Thomas and Lucy Bellows Armstrong, he was born April 6, 1876, in Elk township, Delaware county, la. He attended the schools in that community and with the exception of six years spent in southern California, he had always lived near Greeley. He attended Upper Iowa university at Fayette and Drake university, Des Moines. He was married in 1898 to Miss Jessie V. Sargent. Following her death a number of years later, he was married on June 17, 1924, to Hazel Eaton Sevey, of Edgewood. Surviving are his wife; eight children, Mrs. Roy (Mildred) Clute, Iowa City; Mrs. Burton (Myrtle) Burrit, Waterloo; Mrs. Harold (Olive) Nichols, Webster City. la.; Mrs. Burton (Lucille) Chase, Greeley; Miss Delight Armstrong, Greeley; Cecil Armstrong, San Francisco, and Joy and John Armstrong Jr., both of Greeley; one foster son, Jack Hudgens, Iowa City; three step children, Mrs. Erma Frentress, Greeley; Mrs. Helen White, Manchester, and Fern Sevey, Tucson. Ariz., and now in the army; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren: and one brother, Thomas B. Armstrong, Manchester. Besides his first wife, he was preceded by one son and one daughter. Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Order of the Eastern Star. He served as township chairman of the AAA at Greeley.
