The funeral services were held at the home in west Corning, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. P. L. Roper, of the Corning Baptist Church, and Rev. Mr. Pfalsgraff, an Evangelical minister of near Cumberland, interment was made in Methodist Grove cemetery beside his wife and daughter, Mrs. J. M. Kraft, who had preceded Mr. Hedinger in death. Read More	John Hedinger passed from this life Friday morning, November 3, 1916, at about 7 o'clock. Mr. Pfalsgraff, an Evangelical minister of near Cumberland, interment was made in Methodist Grove cemetery beside his wife and daughter, Mrs. J. M. Kraft, who had preceded Mr. Hedinger in death. John Hedinger, son of Rudolph and Mary Hedinger, was born in Blumensteim Canton, Berne, Switzerland, November 24, 1835. There were five brothers and four sisters, all having departed this life, excepting one sister, Mrs. Ben Walter, who resides near Brooks, Iowa. In the year 1854, John Hedinger's father's family emigrated, to America to make this new country their home. At first they located in Sardis, Monroe county, Ohio, where they made their home for fifteen years. Miss Elizabeth Graf of Wheeling, W. Va., and Mr. Hedinger were married in the year 1863. and to this 'union were born six children. They are Mrs. Edward Schafroth, of Corning; John Hedinger Jr., of Napiersville, Illinois.; Mrs. J. M. Krafft, deceased;, Miss Allie Hedinger of Corning; Edward, of Kansas City, Mo., and Miss Emma, of Corning: The beloved wife and mother passed away. February 6, 1900. Mr. Hedinger leaves the children mentioned, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In the year 1869, Mr. Hedinger and his family moved to Adams county, Iowa, locating on a farm near Brooks. He was one of the early pioneers who came to this part of the state where there was yet much open and unbroken land. Few of those pioneers are living now, and in the passing of John Hedinger, another is removed who was known for his worth of character and good citizenship. Conditions of health necessitated that Mr. Hedinger remove from the farm and in 1896 the family moved to Corning to reside, making their home in west Corning. For the past summer, his health was not the best, and he began to fail rapidly during the past month, the end coming as mentioned Friday morning, at about 7 o'clock. Had Mr. Hedinger lived until the 14th of November he would have been 81 years old. Early in manhood, while still residing in the land pf his birth, Switzerland, Mr. Hedinger united with the Swiss Reform church and during the years that have followed he has, remained a faithful member of that church and conscientiously live his faith in God. The large concourse of friends who attended the last sad rites testified to the esteem in which Mr. Hedinger was held in the community. Many friends regret his departure from this life. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were the sons, Ed Hedinger, of Kansas City, and John Hedinger Jr, from Napiersville, Illinois and their wives; Dr. J. M. Kraft and daughter, of Payton, Iowa; Henry Schafroth and wife of Storm Lake; Mrs. Madelia Hedinger of Des Moines; and Rev. Mr. Pfalisgraff of near Cumberland.
