E., passed away this morning at 9:30, after a siege of sickness lasting four months. At the time of his death he was 73 year, 7 months and 12 days of age. Mr. Heissel was born at Langenenslingen, Wurtemberg, Germany on April 2, 1856, where he resided until he was 15 years of age. Coming to Knowlton, Wis., where he worked in a saw mill. In March, 1878, he was united in marriage to Josephine Halder of Knowlton and shortly afterward came to Newell, Iowa where they farmed until 1893. In 1893 they came to Le Mars where they have lived ever since with the exception of four years spent in Texas. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, five daughters and one son, who are: Mrs. Frank Stoffel, Mrs. John Bortscheller; Al Heissel, Houston, Tex.; Mrs. J. C. Mayrose, Mrs. N. J. Wiltgen; and Sister Josephis of Wilmett, ILL., and 24 grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Deceased also leaves one brother and a sister in Germany. One brother and a sister preceded him in death. Besides the above mentioned survivors, Mr. Heissel is mourned by an aged uncle John Sauter of this city. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10 o’clock from St Joseph’s cemetery, Wiltgen’s funeral directors in charge. Mr. Heissel was president of the Holy Name society and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph’s society and the R. C. M. P. S. Six grandsons of the deceased will act as pallbearers. Deceased was well known in this community and was a respectful citizen of this county. His death will be mourned by everyone that knew him. -Le Mars Sentinal, 14 November, 1929
