Bloyd. - John Bloyd died at his home at Kelso, Washington, on last Friday. This was the word that Willis Bloyd a brother of the deceased received. His mother who until a few months ago lived here, was at his death bed side when death came. Mr. Bloyd's sickness dates back to April 1904, at that time he was at a fire, and became very warm. The result was that a heavy cold settled on his lungs from which he never recovered. He was taken to California last winter, but the climate there was not the benefit to his health that it was hoped it would be. The deceased was in the prime of life. He has many friends here who will be grieved to know of his untimely death. Among the many relatives who are left to mourn his loss are three children, a wife and an aged mother. Bloyd, the subject of this sketch was born in Wetsell County, West Virginia, 42 years ago, and died at Kelso, Wash., September 8, 1905, of consumption. He was married to Miss Mary E. Hartzell in Dickinson County, Kansas and came to the coast, locating at Kelso in 1898. A wife and three children survive him, besides a father, mother, live brothers and one sister. The deceased had been a sufferer of consumption for two years, and at one time it was thought that he had conquered the disease and would recover, but the dreaded malady took a new bold, and he gradually grew worse until death ended his suffering. Deceased was an exemplary citizen and a man of sterling convictions, Convinced of what was right, no power on earth could change his mind. Before death he was thoroughly converted to Christianity and uttered many beautiful prayers. He passed away without suffering any pain, and was apparently satisfied to go, convinced that he would meet his maker in a brighter land than this. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church and were conducted by Rev. R. L. Wolfe, assisted by Rev. T. M. Reese. Interment was made in I. O. O. F. cemetery Sunday, September 9th. He was a member of the W. of W. and Maccabees, and carried $1,000 life insurance in each order Kelso, Wash., Press.
