OBITUARY, The Correctionville News, 29 December 1932, page 1: Following a four-day illness with heart trouble, John Henry Heath, a pioneer resident of Woodbury, passed away at his farm home seven miles southwest of Anthon December 19, 1932. J. H. Heath was born at Maquoketa, Iowa, February 4, 1865, and came with his parents to Woodbury County when but a child. For many years his parents operated a hotel six miles west of Moville. His father drove the stagecoach between Sioux City and Correctionville, which carried both mail and passengers. The Heath Hotel was known as the half-way house and was very popular in the pioneer days. John helped his father drive the stagecoach and operate the hotel until he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Jerman at Sioux City in 1886. The couple lived with Mr. Heath's parents for a year and then operated and farmed near Moville, Lucky Valley, Climbing Hill and Oto until 1908, when for two years they lived at McClusky, North Dakota. They returned to Correctionville in 1910 and it was on a farm north of town where Mrs. Heath passed away in 1912. In the spring of 1913 Mr. Heath moved to the Anthon community and has lived on farms west of there since that time. He is survived by two sons, Ned of Correctionville and Ralph of Anthon, four daughters, Mrs. Bert Treft of Lawton, Mrs. Lloyd Schram of Panoka, Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Eldon Brown and Mrs. Lloyd Parker, both of Anthon, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday morning at 10 a.m., Rev D. K. Hurley officiating. Interment was made in the Lucky Valley Cemetery. Mr. Heath was an upright man who enjoyed an unusually large group of friends. He was a faithful member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was devoted to his family. His passing will be mourned with genuine regret by a host of relatives and friends.
