Description	:	John Henry Johnson and all of the family but one of the brothers took the surname "Johnson" when they came to America. They were originally from the Schleswig-Holstine area of Denmark/Germany and mixed German and Danish.John H. John H. Johnson was the first person to serve as the Seventh Day Adventist Church Elder for this community. John Henry Johnson was born in 1843 in Germany. In 1855 the family immigrated to America where he met and married his wife Christena Margaret Bickles at Geneseo, IL. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Avoca, IA. In 1881 they moved to Audubon County and about 14 years later moved to New Mexico. After spending 12 years there they returned to Audubon County where they spent their last days. John worked as a blacksmith. Their 11 children: Frank Johnson, married Anna Paulson, both buried at Royal, Clay Co., IA; Willie Johnson, married Christina Aagaard; James Johnson, married Ethel Wilson; Louie Johnson, married Christina Johnson; Mary Johnson married Soren Madison; Minnie Johnson, marred Fred Madison; Dora Johnson, married Andrew Hansen and Lena Johnson also married Andrew Hansen; Emma Johnson, married Nels Nelson; Clara Johnson, married Edwin Bailey; and Laura Johnson, married Alfred Jacobsen. John died in 1907. Christena died 10 Oct 1917.
