The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, February 16, 1939 John Waldron, son of Jasper and Mahala Waldron, was born in Henderson County, Illinois, October 20, 1867, and departed this life at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, February 7, 1939, aged 71 years, 3 months and 17 days. He was the oldest of thirteen brothers and sisters, eleven of whom survive. He had been in failing health for the past year, and was seriously ill for the past two months. On October 20, 1897, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. Prohaska. To this union one son, Earl, was born. They established their home on a farm seven miles southwest of York, where they resided until 1915 when they moved to York. In 1919 the family moved to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, where they resided at the time of his death. Mr. Waldron united with the Baptist church at an early age and served as superintendent at Council Church when he lived nearby. He was a devoted husband and father, and will be sincerely mourned by his family, as well as by a large host of friends and acquaintances. Mr. Waldron is survived by his widow, his son, Earl, a daughter-in-law, and two grand daughters, besides four brothers and seven sisters, a several nieces and nephews. A good husband, father, neighbor, friend, has passed on. His life will be remembered for his industry, frugality and his neighborly attitude toward those about him. He believed in good citizenship and made a liberal contribution to society and progressive ideals. His purpose in life was to do his part fearlessly and earnestly. He has not lived in vain. His faith in the Divine and Eternal justifies our confidence that it is well with his soul. Those who remain of his family and friends can live with assurance that the sacrifices necessary to live righteously are certain of reward in the life beyond the grave. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.B. Price at York at Council church (sic) six miles west and a mile and a half south of York, on Friday afternoon, February 10th. Six nephews: Frank Waldron, Glen Waldron, Harold Watt, Bobby Prohaska, Everett Dodd and Glen Dodd were the pallbearers. provided by Peggy Bargen Duey
