Read More	The Goldendale Sentinel, Goldendale, WA., July 30, 1925, page 8 OBITUARY John Henry Shell was born in Ohio, March 15, 1842, and died at his home in Pleasant Valley, Wash., July 22, 1925, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 7 days. He moved from Ohio to Iowa with his parents in 1855, and there was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Johnson in 1872. From Iowa he moved to Kansas, in which state three children who were born to them. Two of the children died in that state. From Kansas he moved to Washington in 1891, and settled and Klickitat county, where he resided up to his death, with the exception of four years, when he lived with his daughter in Moscow, Idaho. He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Ida May Van of Moscow, Idaho, and one brother, Sam T. Shell, of Boardman, Ore. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Valley school house last Thursday afternoon, officiated by Rev. T. De Vries, pastor of the Goldendale Presbyterian church, followed by interment in the Pleasant Valley cemetery. ---------------------------------- The Klickitat County Agriculturist, Goldendale, WA., July 31, 1925, page 1 PIONEER SETTLER TAKEN BY DEATH John H. Shell, whose death was mentioned in last week's Agri., was born in Ohio in 1842, and with his parents moved to Iowa in 1855. Here, in 1872, he was married, three children being born in to the union. Later he moved to Kansas, where his wife passed away. In 1891 he moved to Klickitat county, settling on a tract of land in the Pleasant Valley section, where he resided most of the time until his death. The last four years of his life, however, were spent with his daughter, Mrs. Ida May Van, of Moscow, Idaho. Recently he visited a brother, Sam Shell, at Boardman, Oregon, and then returned to the old home, -- as he told several, to die. So on Wednesday, July 23rd, 1995, he quietly passed away, in the 84th year of his age. The funeral services were held on the afternoon of the next day, Rev. T. DeVries of the Goldendale Presbyterian church, officiating. He leaves behind a number of relatives, nephews, and nieces. Six nephews acted as pallbearers, which is rather an unusual event. The interment took place in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
