Read More	John Henry Teal Answers Summons Word was telephoned to The News at mid-night on Sunday of the rather sudden demise of our old friend and citizen, John Henry “Tim” Teal, and whose death occurred at about eleven o’clock. Mr. Teal was up town in the afternoon, went home, ate supper, and had just finished waiting on his aged and invalid mother, stepped to the telephone and called the doctor, lie down and in ten minutes thereafter he was a corpse. The cause of his death was given as acute gastritis. For a number of years Mr. Teal had been under medical attention for his ailments, and had been to Hot Springs a time or two in the hopes of regaining his health, but it appeared to be of not much benefit, tho the relief afforded each time was but temporary. Mr. Teal was born on the old Teal homestead, a mile west and a half mile south of Utica, on January 5th, 1866, and was in his 57th year. He was the son George and Rebecca Teal. His father passed away some fifteen years ago. Tim never married but remained at home to care for his mother. Mr. Teal leaves a mother, two sisters, Mrs. Chester Hootman and Mrs. L.F. Edwards; one brother, Cass, of near Mt. Sterling, Iowa. The funeral was held from the residence of his mother on East Williams street, on Tuesday morning at eleven o’clock and was conducted by Rev. G.W. Barber, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of this city. Interment was had in the Miller’s Chapel, just south of the city and the service at the grave were in charge of local lodge of Odd Fellows, of which order Brother Teal had been a member for a number of years.
