Description	:	John Holland, son of Benjamin Holland, was born in Halifax now Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He served as an Indian fighter during the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the company with Vinet Fine who chased Indians from the Tuskasaigee settlements into western North Carolina after they stole horses and cattle in the winter of 1783 and in which John and his brothers were injured. John settled at Big Creek, now Del Rio, Tennessee and the creek running from Chestnut Mountain to the French Broad River bears the name of John's Creek. In the 1830 census... In the 1830 census John's family is listed as having 8 slaves. He died in Cocke County, Tennessee and was buried at the Holland family cemetery between Max Patch and Del Rio.
