Goodwin, yesterday afternoon. The body is being returned to Carroll for funeral services and burial. If it arrives at the Huffman Goodwin Funeral home here Sunday, as contemplated, funeral rites are tentatively set for Monday afternoon. Information received here as to the details of the crash are meager. In a telephone conversation with a mortician at the Palm Funeral home in Las Vegas, Wayne Harriott, brother-in-law of the victim, understood that Mr. Goodwin was taking off in his plane and was going to level out when the craft went into a nosedive and crashed near the airfield. It is not known here whether or not Mr. Goodwin was at the controls of his plane. With him were a couple, whose names were given as Mr. and Mrs. Rutledge, both of whom were injured fatally. An inquest is being held at Las Vegas this afternoon. Mr. Goodwin, who was born in Carroll August 8, 1901, was reared here. His mother, now deceased, was Emma Mandelkow before her marriage. After World war I, he enlisted in the army, in which he served for a number of years. He was a veteran of World war II, having been a member of the Seabees. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve as a ship fitter, first class, in a construction regiment, in the spring of 1942. He had lived in Las Vegas the last three years. There he had government work, carrying mail from the post office to the airplanes. Survivors include his father, two sisters, Mrs. George Cushing (Irene), Newell, and Mrs. Wayne Harriott (Winita), Carroll; one son, Wallace Goodwin of Seattle, Wash., who is expected to arrive here today or tomorrow, and two granddaughters. A son, Dennis, preceded him in death.
