Description	:	John Hoover Parker, the son of George and Jane Parker, was born near West Grove, Iowa, July 8, 1873 and passed away at the Hilltop retreat Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on September 30, 1951 at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 22 days. On March 17, 1901 he was united in marriage to Salina Waggoner. To this union two daughters were born, Edith and Pauline. Read More	John Hoover Parker, the son of George and Jane Parker, was born near West Grove, Iowa, July 8, 1873 and passed away at the Hilltop retreat Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on September 30, 1951 at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 22 days. On March 17, 1901 he was united in marriage to Salina Waggoner. To this union two daughters were born, Edith and Pauline. Mr and Mrs Parker spent their married life on the farm in Davis County, until 7 years ago when they moved to their present home at 502 We Jefferson St in Bloomfield. Mr. Parker and his brother, Urban, were partners on the farm for many years where their chief interest was in raising purebred black cattle. He kept his interest in the stock even after his health began to fail about 2 years ago. Since before the sudden death of his beloved wife, in June, his health was so impaired that he was not able to be left alone at any time. His daughters stayed by him continually after their mothers' death. Just a few days ago he was taken to Des Moines where everything was done to restore him. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, and one granddaughter. Those who survive him are his daughters and their families, Mrs. Edith Friend of Lebanon, Indiana and Mrs. Pauline Leeps of St. Louis, Missouri and one brother, Urban who made his home with them; one sister Mrs. Abe White of West Grove, Iowa , and two grandchildren, Wray Friend and Betty Van Orman, one great grandson, Steven Perrigo, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted in the Wagler Funeral Home at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, October 2, 1951, by Dr W Frank Lister of the Methodist Church. Mrs Clarence Johnson and Barbara Farwell sang "I Come to the Garden Alone", and "Abide with Me" accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Heinrich Taylor. Interment was made in the family lot in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
