Howard was born one of seven children at home on June 7, 1932, to Jack and Nellie (Yates) Wisemore at Leavenworth, where he was raised and received his education, graduating from Leavenworth High School. Howard enlisted in the United States Army in 1951, and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953, and was later awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded on Pork Chop Hill. On January 23, 1954, he married Patricia Louise Hawver at Leavenworth. Howard attended trade school and a short time later, went to work for Great Northern Railroad and retired from Burling Northern as a Signal Foreman after 30+ years. Howard and his family moved to Cashmere, where he served on the school board and later relocated to Snohomish and Bellingham, where his service to the Lord began by helping build the Sammish Way Baptist Church. In the late 70's, they moved to Leavenworth, where they built a log home and raised their family. Howard was very active in the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene, where he pursued his passion to serve Jesus Christ. He was recognized for being the Upper Valley Christian School's Prayer Warrior and was always willing to greet you with a hug and a helping hand. Howard also enjoyed wood working, golf, camping, hiking, fishing, coffee with friends and "Swapping Lies". Howard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Wisemore of Leavenworth; his children, Craig (Carmen) Wisemore of Cashmere, Sue (David) Adams of Nampa, ID and John (Ernestine) Wisemore of Leavenworth; sisters, Winnie (Fred) Paine of Benton City, WA and Jean (Al) Gibson of Crescent City, OR; his grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, Ali and Nikki Wisemore, Katie and Nicholas Adams and Karlie and Kassidy Wisemore. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (one whom died at birth) and one sister. A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Howard Wisemore will be held on Saturday July 2, 2011, at the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene at 1:00 p.m. with Interment to follow at the Mt. View Cemetery. The casket will be closed for the service. For those friends who wish, Visitation will be held on Friday July 1, 2011, at Ward's Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Valley Christian School at 111 Ski Hill Drive, Leavenworth, WA. 98826. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth is in charge of the arrangements.
