Description	:	John Ignace Rehberg died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Balleweg in Creighton, Friday morning, July 6 at 2 o'clock. Mr. Rehberg was 91 years, 4 months and 21 days old and had been suffering from a short illness as the result of old age. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church, Sunday morning at 9 o'clock, Father Windolph officiating. John Ignace Rehberg was born Feb. 15, 1826 in the province of Hesse, Germany. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church, Sunday morning at 9 o'clock, Father Windolph officiating. John Ignace Rehberg was born Feb. 15, 1826 in the province of Hesse, Germany. In 1839 he migrated to the United States with his parents, taking passage at Liverpool, Eng. and after spending 49 days on the water arrived at New York, staying there three days till they went to Rochester, Minn., where they made their home till the next spring. They then went by steamboat across Lake Michigan to Milwauke, Wis., his father then locating on a 200 acre farm, where the city of Genesee now stands, which he purchased from the government at $1.25 an acre, where a log house was built, 11 by 16 feet square, where the family of six lived till a frame house could be built, it being the first frame house in that part of the country. Mr. Rehberg stayed with his parents till in 1835. He built a house of his own on 100 acres of land, which his father had given him and was married to Miss Amelia Knoebel of Pelranke, Wis. to which union thirteen children were born, eight of which are living. In 1885 he sold out in Wisconson and came to Nebraska, setting near Crawford. At the time of his death he was living at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Balleweg in this city. There remain to mourn his loss, eight children, Mrs. Kate Balleweg of Creighton, Mrs. Jos. Dowling of West Point, Mrs. Hyacinth Kemmel of Brunswick, J.W. of Winchester, Tenn., Frank of Beemer, Mark of New Mexico and Leo and Otto of Brunswick. ...The Creighton Liberal 12 July 1917
