Description	:	John J. Foster was born in England and came to New York with his parents when two years old. He came to Iowa some 50 years ago, and for many years lived on a farm northwest of Kellogg. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Tomlinson, to which union God blessed with six children. They lived in Kellogg in the 1880's. He served his country in the Civil war and received an honorable discharge. He suffered an injury that lasted a lifetime. He was kicked by a horse. He died very suddenly at the... Read More	John J. Foster was born in England and came to New York with his parents when two years old. He came to Iowa some 50 years ago, and for many years lived on a farm northwest of Kellogg. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Tomlinson, to which union God blessed with six children. They lived in Kellogg in the 1880's. He served his country in the Civil war and received an honorable discharge. He suffered an injury that lasted a lifetime. He was kicked by a horse. He died very suddenly at the home of his son Roy in Cedar Rapids, November 23, 1914, having been sick but two days, in the 74th year of his age. One daughter and three sons survive. He is buried beside his wife. He has a military stone, but the dates are wrong on it.
