Description	:	John Jordan was born in Franklin county, Pa., April 5, 1831 and died of paralysis at Fruitdale, Ala., January 11, 1912, aged 80 years, 8 months, and 10 days. He was married to Barbara Zook July 24, 1854. To them were born twelve children, seven of which died in infancy. Five are living: Daniel of Hastings; Joseph of Fruitdale, Ala., Edward of Topeka, Kas., Mrs. Mary Bair of Fairmont; Mrs. Anna Bivens of Exeter. He united with the Methodist church early in life: in 1879 he was baptized into the church of the Brethren or Dunkard by Elder Urich Shick of Holmesville, Neb. Soon after uniting with the church of the Brethren he was elected to the deacon's office, later to the ministry. He came to Nebraska about 1878 and settled four and one-half miles northwest of Exeter where he lived until after the death of his wife, which occurred ten years ago last September. After that he spent a few years with his children in Nebraska and the rest of his life with his son Joe in Alabama. It was his earnest request to be buried beside his dear companion in the Horton cemetery. Services were conducted by Edgar Rothrock, pastor of the Brethren church of Carlisle, assisted by Rev. Mr. Street, pastor of the Methodist church of Exeter, where the services were held. Nebraska Signal, Fillmore County, NE January 25, 1912
