Description	:	LAUREL - John J. Kappel passed away Friday, May 24, 2002, at the Horizon Hospice Home after a lengthy illness at the age of 64. He was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Park City, to Frank and Madge Kappel and lived in this area all of his life. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna; son Timothy and wife Becky; grandson Kalvin; granddaughter Corina; mother Madge Kappel; brothers Richard and wife Lorna, Robert and wife Peggy; sisters Delores and husband Terry Fox, Kathleen and husband Craig Baumgartner; brother-in-law Dennis Kautz; a large extended family with many nieces and... Read More	LAUREL - John J. Kappel passed away Friday, May 24, 2002, at the Horizon Hospice Home after a lengthy illness at the age of 64. He was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Park City, to Frank and Madge Kappel and lived in this area all of his life. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna; son Timothy and wife Becky; grandson Kalvin; granddaughter Corina; mother Madge Kappel; brothers Richard and wife Lorna, Robert and wife Peggy; sisters Delores and husband Terry Fox, Kathleen and husband Craig Baumgartner; brother-in-law Dennis Kautz; a large extended family with many nieces and nephews; special friends Bill and Linda Strauch, Tony and Lael Lueck and many others. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and sister, Elizabeth. He served in the Montana National Guard after graduating from high school and worked at Laurel Auto Parts from 1960 to 1999 when he retired. John was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. John, we will miss you dearly. You were a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you And whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts To prove to us He only takes the best. The family suggests memorials be given to Big Sky Hospice. A Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laurel. Interment will be in the Laurel Cemetery.
