Marushak, who passed away at the Prague hospital on December 4, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 12 days, was born in Bracice, Caslava, Czecho-Slovakia, on June 22, 1863. He came to America with his parents at the age of two years. After a strenuous voyage on the ocean the family settled in Cleveland, Ohio, and three years later moved to Omaha where they lived for three years and then moved to a farm near Abie, living there until 1890, when Mr. Marushak was united in marriage to Miss Anna Viskocil. To them were born six children, three sons and three daughters. One son died in early infancy. Mrs. Marushak preceded her husband in death exactly 12 years ago. The surviving children are James and Emanuel Marushak of Omaha, Mrs. Joseph Ourada of Valparaiso, Mrs. Leroy Sweenie of David City and Miss Anne Marushak. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Edward Semrad and Mrs. Frank Virgl of Abie, Mrs. William Johannes of Schuyler and Mrs. Marie Kroupaa of Omaha, and five brothers, Anton Marushak of David City, Charles, Frank and Louis Marushak of Abie and Joseph Marushak. Funeral services were held on December 6 under the auspices of the Z. C. B. J. lodge of Linwood, of which Mrs. Marushak had been a faithful member for many years. Members of the lodge were pallbearers. Burial was in the Nimburg cemetery, with a large gathering of relatives and friends who came to pay their last tribute to the deceased. Mr. Marushak was a thoughtful and loving father, a true friend and an amiable neighbor. He was widely known in political circles and for many years was a member of the school board. He was in the mercantile business most of his life, but ceased from active business life some six years ago, owing to a serious surgical operation. _____ Card of Thanks - We take this means of expressing our sincere gratitude to all those who tendered us aid in the sickness, death and burial of our beloved father, especially do we thank Rudolf Shalon, the Z.
