Description	:	Jack was born May 1, 1922, at home, nine miles out of Columbus along the Stillwater River to Edward and Fanny Nichol. Even though he grew up on a farm, he wasn't much of a farm boy. He never milked in the mornings or evenings as it interfered with his love of fly fishing. He spent most of his life either in or on the Stillwater River. He attended a one-room school at Lower White Bird (skipping the third grade) and graduated from Columbus High School. His college education was interrupted while serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII.... Read More	Jack was born May 1, 1922, at home, nine miles out of Columbus along the Stillwater River to Edward and Fanny Nichol. Even though he grew up on a farm, he wasn't much of a farm boy. He never milked in the mornings or evenings as it interfered with his love of fly fishing. He spent most of his life either in or on the Stillwater River. He attended a one-room school at Lower White Bird (skipping the third grade) and graduated from Columbus High School. His college education was interrupted while serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He later graduated from the University of Montana. He married Phyllis Price and two girls were born to this union, Candy and Denise. He later married Lois Leas and gained another daughter, Nikki. Jack was a founder and partner in Tri-Jack for many years. He also enjoyed owning the Stillwater Kayak Company. An avid sports fan, he regularly drove to Missoula for Grizzly Football, more than wore out his lifetime season ski pass to Red Lodge Mountain, and was a kayaking pioneer teaching many to enjoy the sport. He was a jazz, blues, big band, and Dixieland aficionado and once had his own Jazz Radio Show. Jack and Lois enjoyed travelling the world and shared many wonderful adventures together. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mick Boelen; niece, Shirley Lawrence; nephew, Larry Romee, Jr.; as well as many other relatives and good friends. Jack is survived by his wife; Lois; daughters: Candy Capp (Jerry), Denise Kelly (George) and Nikki Van Heuvelen (John); granddaughters: Nicole Croaker and Susie Niederloh (Tom); grandson, Ryan Jackson (Mary Ann); great grandchildren: Peyton Croaker, John and Josie Jackson, and Andi and Emerson Niederloh. His sisters Pauline Hartman and Mary Arnold (Art) and many other loved ones. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the caregivers who went above and beyond to care for Jack and his family. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Go Griz!
