Read More	Rites Saturday for Jack Reiling Funeral services for John (Jack) Reiling, 56, of Auburn, who died yesterday morning at the Veterans hospital, Des Moines, will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's church. Auburn. The Rev. Fr. George Wessling will offer the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery there. The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral home here, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. today and Friday. The rosary Friday night, which will be recited by the Holy Name society of St. Mary's parish, will be led by the Rev. Fr. Wessling. Mr. Reiling, a veteran of World war I, was inducted into the U. S. army June 28, 1918. Serving with the 351st Infantry, he went overseas Aug. 15, 1918. He returned to this country May 23, 1919, and received his discharge five days later. A son of the late Albert and Mary Reiling, he was born Mar. 26, 1895, in Kniest township, Carroll county. He was married to Josephine Schelle Jan. 28, 1918, at St. Bernard's church, Breda, by the Rev. Fr. Schulte. In1920, Mr. and Mrs. Reiling went to Reliance, S. D., farming there until 1927, when they moved to a farm in the Algona community. In 1935, they came from Algona to the Belling homestead five miles east of Breda, moving from there in 1946 to a farm southeast of Auburn. They have lived in Auburn since their retirement in 1947. Besides his widow, Mr. Reiling leaves three sons; Cyril, Carroll; Richard, Lake City, and Edward, Auburn; seven grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: William Roiling, Coon Rapids; W. J. Reiling, Lake City; Theodore and Frank Reiling, Carroll; Mrs. Joe Schelle (Clara), Breda; Mrs. Edward Underberg (Carolyn), Springville, N. Y.; Mrs. Henry Gehling (Regina), Gilmore City, and Mrs. Mary Rosonke, Carroll. His parents and two brothers, Gregory and Anton, preceded him in death and a sister, Anna, who died in infancy, Mr. Reiling was a member of St. Mary's church, Auburn, the Holy Name society of the parish; Veterans of Foreign Wars post at Carroll and the American Legion post at Auburn. His death followed a two-year illness. He had been in the Veterans hospital since May 30. ((Carroll Daily Times Herald, Carroll, IA, July 26, 1951)
