Booth, a retired Marion dentist and realtor, passed away at 10:17 a.m. Monday, May 26, at a Cedar Rapids hospital. He was born June 10, 1877 in Marion the son of John M. and Rachel Ives Booth and had been a life long Marion resident. He was graduated from Marion high school with the class of 1895 and from the University of Iowa school of dentistry in the class of 1899. He began his practice in Marion in 1899 and was married on June 14, 1900 to Miss Ethel Crew at Marion. During his 38 years of practice he served nine years on the Iowa State Board of Dental examiners and one years as president of the Iowa State Dental society. He retired from his dental practice in 1937 and in 1940 he opened a real estate office which he conducted until 1950. Dr. Booth was a member of the First Methodist church of Marion and for many years was very active in its choir and Sunday School, Marion Lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M., Marion Chapter No. 10, R.A.M., The Iowa State Dental society and the University District Dental society. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Ronald C. Booth, Cedar Rapids, a granddaughter, Miss Barbara Booth, Cedar Rapids, a brother, George E. Booth, Winnetka, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. C.G. Stevens, Chicago. Two children, Robert and Marian Booth died in infancy, and two brothers, Dr. Frank Booth, Evanston, Ill., and Dr. Charles Booth, Cedar Rapids, preceded him in death. Memorial services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, May 28 in Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Ralph E. Baker, pastor of the First Methodist church. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
