When a young lad he went to Cedar Rapids and worked in the Quaker Oats factory. He was united in marriage to Miss Addie Rossman of Victor 1909, and to this union one daughter was born. Read More	Source: Victor Record 3/7/1957 Obituary John J. Willert was born Nov. 5, 1887 at Rockford,Iowa and grew to manhood in that community. He attended Lutheran school at Rockford. When a young lad he went to Cedar Rapids and worked in the Quaker Oats factory. He was united in marriage to Miss Addie Rossman of Victor 1909, and to this union one daughter was born. At the time of their marriage, Miss Rossman was working in a telephone office at Cedar Rapids. They made their home there until 1912, when they moved to Victor and the home was made here ever since. Mr. Willert worked for the Bowman Bros. in the building and cement business for many years. On April 1, 1935 he was hired by the town of Victor as street commissioner, water warden and marshal and served the town faithfully until May 1, 1950. He worked for Wahl and Dee at the lumber yard for some time, later doing carpentry and repair work. He also served on the Victor Volunteer Fire Department for ten years. Death came suddenly Thursday night in a car accident at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 23 days. He leaves to mourn his passing his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Irwin, one grandson, Roger, one granddaughter, Nancy, all of Bellflower, CA., two sisters, Mrs. Anna Campbell of Ankeny, Iowa and Mrs. Bertha Elder of Minneapolis, MN.; several nieces and nephews besides other relatives and many friends. He will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends, as he always had a pleasant smile and "hello" for everyone. His parents and wife preceded him iin death, the latter passing away Aug. 27, 1951. Funeral services wereheld from the McAninch chapel Tuesday, March 5 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. W. J. Fowler in charge. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Lena Schrader, Mrs. Leslie Becker and Charles Seaton. An organ solo, "Beyond the Sunset" was played by Mrs. George Keller. Pallbearers were Leslie Becker, Albert Dusterhoft, Ed Bushnell, Forrest Shaull, Russell O'Halloran and Ray Merck. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
