Read More	Farmer Killed in a Runaway- Prominent Cleveland Farmer - John Jacobs Thrown From Buggy When Team Became Frightened - Unconscious to The Last - John Jacobs, a prominent farmer residing in Cleveland precinct, was killed in a runaway mixup which occurred on his way home from Dannebrog Saturday afternoon, between three and four o'clock. Mr. Jacobs was alone in the buggy and while going down a short incline the team became frightened and started on a run; just before reaching a culvert, the neck-yoke broke with the result that the tongue dropped to the ground and plowed into a culvert with so severe a jolt as to throw Mr. Jacobs from the seat and landing him on the hard road, sustaining a broken neck, a fractured skull and breaking one arm and leg. The mangled body was taken to the Ed. Lauritsen home where medical aid was summoned. Mr. Jacobs died about one o'clock the same night without regaining consciousness. John Jacobs was born in West Farnham, Quebec, Canada, January 29, 1855 and died Oct. 8,1916, being at the time of his death 61 years, 8 months, 9 days old. When he was quite young his parents moved to Vermont where most of his childhood days were spent. In 1872 he emigrated west finally settling in Howard county in 1873. On September 29, 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary A. Ferris at Grand Island. They went to housekeeping on the groom's farm 5 1/2 miles north of St. Paul. In 1893 they moved to their present home in Cleveland precinct. All of their married life, with the exception of one year was spent in Howard county. To this union was born ten children, all of whom are living: Frank A. of Painsville, O; Mrs. R. S. Richards of Kamiah, Ida; Mrs. B. F. Miller of Ericson, Nebr; Mrs. C. W. Perry of Dannebrog; John E. of Powder River, Wyo; David A. of Kennewick, Wash; Mrs. H. M. Hetrick of Cairo,; Mrs. T. H. B. Dogget of Seward; and Winifred and Roy at home. Besides his loving wife and children, Mr. Jacobs leaves twenty grandchildren, four brothers and one sister to mourn his death. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. O. I. Forester officiating. Interment was made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
