His parents moved to West Virginia, thence to Pennsylvania,then to Ohio, and to Iowa in 1854, and settled in Davenport. His father died in Davenport about 1856. Mr. McDonnell came to Clinton Co. in 1858, and settled on Sec. 23, Washington Township. He purchased his present farm in the fall of 1866.
