My initial source on the Dewey Family is a four page article written & submitted to the Blanchester Historical Society by Martha Dewey Jacoby in 1993 that was included in their 1994 publication "Blanchester Area Heritage" This article lists all the children of John Palmer & Catherine Louisa Wilson Dewey, of which John Jesse is one. This is what Mrs. Jacoby has to say about John. "John Jesse was the manager of the Dewey Brother's Company in Leesburg, Ohio. He was fatally injured in 1901 by a train at Madisonville, Oh, as he was helping some ladies get on the train who were there for a local wedding. He had one daughter Corrine who was mentioned in the will of Catherine Wilson Dewey". I am not related to this family but my interest lies in the discovering the relationships & background of the individuals buried in the Blanchester cemetery. The Dewey Brother's company dates back to 1889 by Lewis Wilson & Joseph Sigel Dewey in Blanchester & lasted until the 1990's before being liquidated. It had at least one other branch in South Charleston in addition to the one in Leesburg. I also found information on John Jesse Dewey & his wife & daughter on Family Search that I sent you. John & Adalyne Brady were married in August, 1901. She undoubtedly remarried after John's death, hence the last name of Walker. If you would like I can add the death certificate for Corinne to her memorial. There are some who don't like death certificates to be added, but I feel they are important for the following reasons: 1. According to the professional genealogists I have talked to, death certificates say the date of death listed on them are the final word because they are filled out at the time & are not done from someone's memory. 2. The listed cause of death gives descendants a clue to any health issues that may run in a family. 3. The listing of the parents & especially the mother's maiden name. 4. The location of Birth & death. 5. The burial location. Yes, other than the date of death, the rest of the information can be wrong, but I have found they are more often right than wrong., Thanks for adding the information on John J. Dewey.
