TOBIN, FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT YAKIMA John Joseph Tobin, 75-year-old former Goldendale resident, died last Wednesday afternoon near Parker, Wash. Mr. Tobin was stricken with a heart attack while waiting at a gravel pit near Yakima for his son to return from delivering a load of gravel. Funeral services were held for Mr. Tobin in Yakima and graveside rites were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Goldendale Catholic cemetery by the Rev. Father T.A. Edwards, formerly of this city. Mr. Tobin had been a resident of the Yakima valley for the past 45 years. Born in Minnesota he moved to Goldendale with his parents when he was four years old. He was a member of the old national guard company established in Goldendale in 1885. Mr. Tobin moved to Yakima in 1911 and established a sand and gravel contracting business. He was also a carpenter. He is survived by five sons, Frank J. of Yakima, H.J. and M.C., both of Oregon, A.J. of Omak, Wash. and W.T. of Spokane; four daughters, Miss Ellen Tobin of Yakima, Mrs. L.Z. Rich of Canada, Mrs. Anna Brown of Alturas, Calif., and Mrs. Monica Collins of Caldwell, Idaho; three brothers, Tom of Goldendale, Dick of Enterprise and James of Canada. Eight grandchildren also survive.
