Mr. Boysen died suddenly the morning of Aug. l at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello. John Julius Boysen was born April 27, 1901, in Schleswige-Holstein, Germany. He was the son of John J. Boysen and his wife Katherine Geyer Boysen. He received his early education near the place of his birth. Mr. Boysen then came to the United States on April 10, 1923, and settled in Grand Island, Neb. and two years later moved to Iowa. John Boysen and Henrietta Osterkamp were married in the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello, Feb. 9, 1926. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in the Monticello area. Mr. Boysen was employed by the Yeoman Manufacturing Company for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1966. He was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, having been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germany. He is survived by his wife, nine children, Katherine, Mrs. Henry Ehlts, Monticello; John J. Boysen Jr., Monticello; Marvin B. Boysen, Marion; Mrs. Betty Jane Brockhohn, Cedar Rapids; Roy G. Boysen, Marion; Mrs. Darlene F. Chapman, Hopkinton; Ruth, Mrs. Lloyd Avis, Minneapolis, Minn.; Ronald G. Boysen, Cedar Rapids; Caroline, Mrs. Ralph Fiedler, Hopkinton. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and two brothers Roy and Ingwer Boysen, both of Germany. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, his parents, a brother and a son-in-law. Casketbearers were Donald Boysen, David Boysen, Gerald Ehlts, Thomas Allison, Steven Chevalier, Michael Chevalier and Alan Brockhohn.
