Description	:	The Sterling Sun Thursday, March 16, 1944 John K. Buss passed away at the home of his son, John Buss, north of Sterling on Tuesday, March 7th. His health had been failing for some time and he looked forward to his departure with confident faith. The following obituary was written by the pastor some time ago. Buss passed away at the home of his son, John Buss, north of Sterling on Tuesday, March 7th. His health had been failing for some time and he looked forward to his departure with confident faith. The following obituary was written by the pastor some time ago. In translation it reads as follows: "I, John K. Buss was born March 22, 1860 in Ostfriesland and baptized on July 4th. After having received the necessary instruction in God's Word I was confirmed on Febr. 18, 1876. In 1882 I emigrated to America and came direct to Sterling, where I worked on a farm for four years. In the fall of 1886 went to Kansas on a homestead near Goodland. I returned to Sterling nine years later and have lived here ever since. In 1891 was married to Henricke Zimmermenn at Sterling. To our union ten children were born, three of which died in infancy. In 1890 God had mercy on me poor sinner and gave me the grace to know and acknowledge Jesus as my Savior. Without this grace I should never have come to the true faith and should not have been able to bear the sorrows God permitted to come over me. God be praised forever. Into His keeping I commit my soul with the prayer: "God be merciful to me, a sinner, for Jesus sake. For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Mr. Buss attained to the age of 83 years, 11 months and 15 days. He is survived by the following children: Miss Christina Buss, Sterling; Mrs. Catherine Meints, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Hannah Yoder, Morrisville, Mo.; Henry, Tecumseh; Ernst, Filley; Mrs. Martha Weimer, Omaha; John, Sterling. There are ten grandchildren. Surviving are also a brother at Sterling and a sister in Germany. Funeral services were at St. John Lutheran church and interment in the Lutheran cemetery on Monday afternoon. Rev. Decker officiating.
