John Klein was born in 1845 near Canal Dover, Ohio, the first son of Phillip and Anna Klein, and passed away Sept. 5, 1941 at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 1 day, in Milford. While still quite young he moved with his parents to Gridley, McLean County, Illinois, where he grew to manhood and was married to Barbara Unzicker, who preceded him in death in 1916. In the year 1884 he moved to Nebraska. Four children were born to this union, Amelia R., Edward S., Mary M. and Maude M. His fine sense of humor and sociable disposition won him many friends in the community and his going struck at the hearts of many. He leaves to mourn his passing three children, Mary M. Smith of Seattle, Wash., Maude M. Wertman and Ed. S. Klein of Milford. Three brothers , Ed. of Yuma, Colo, Dave of Eckley, Colo., and Phillip of Madrid, Nebr.; 11 grandchildren, and many loyal friends. Those from out of town attending the services were: Mrs. Mary M. Smith, Seattle, Wash., Mr. P. C. Klein and Mr. A. Keithley of Madrid, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Klein of Eckley, Colo., Mr. Ed Klein of Yuma, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. John Unzicker and Mrs. Lena Unzicker of Scottsbluff, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Unzicker and daughter of La Mar, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. John Troyer of Aurora, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Al Stutzman and Miss Huffman of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Klein, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hare and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Trabert, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wertman, H. P. Kauffman, Mrs. Julia Welch and Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Welch, all of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Riley Sweasey and Margaret and Mrs. Carl Bemis of Seward.
