Description	:	John Knobbs was born July 29, 1831, in England. He came to America when he was ten years old to live with his uncle in Illinois. He was married to Elizabeth Carew at Clinton, Illinois, August 26, 1857. He enlisted in the 107th Illinois Infantry of the Civil War in 1861, and served until the close. He came to Nebraska in 1873 and settled in Seward county, where he lived until his death. There were nine children born to this union. They are: John C., George E., Mrs. Mary Gannon, Ella M., all of Seward; Mrs. Minnie Brown of Belvidere, Ill.; Charlie A.... Read More	John Knobbs was born July 29, 1831, in England. He came to America when he was ten years old to live with his uncle in Illinois. He was married to Elizabeth Carew at Clinton, Illinois, August 26, 1857. He enlisted in the 107th Illinois Infantry of the Civil War in 1861, and served until the close. He came to Nebraska in 1873 and settled in Seward county, where he lived until his death. There were nine children born to this union. They are: John C., George E., Mrs. Mary Gannon, Ella M., all of Seward; Mrs. Minnie Brown of Belvidere, Ill.; Charlie A. of Beatrice; Mrs. Lillian V. Gaskill, Mike, of Davey, Nebr.; and Dick W. of Lincoln, Nebr. There are also 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His wife died January 23, 1911, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 21 days at Seward. Mr. Knobbs died November 3, 1915. Funeral services were held at the U. B. church at 2 o'clock, by Rev. Mower, who also held the services at the death of his wife. Pallbearers were selected from his G.A.R. comrades.
