Thune, a resident of many years in the Binford community, on Saturday, June 28, at the age of 75 years. At the time of his passing he was confined to the Valley City hospital receiving care and treatments. John K. Thune was born in Vang, Falders, Norway, on June 19, 1855, and came to America in 1877, settling first in Goodhue County, Minnesota. He came to Griggs County in 1883 and filed on a homestead one mile east of his present farm home. He was united in marriage to Miss Anne Hauge in 1884, to which four children were born. Two are yet living, while two have passed away. Mrs. Thune died in 1907. Mr. Thune has been an invalid for many years, but in spite of his crippled condition has always enjoyed good health. About 52 years ago he had the misfortune to lose his left leg in a threshing machine accident, and again in 1913 he figured in an accident that cost him his right arm in a feed grinder. Funeral services were held from the Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday, Rev. M. B. Ordahl officiating, and burial was made in the cemetery west of Binford. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ida Ethen of Binford, and one son, Nels, also of Binford, and a sister, Mrs. T. H. Dahl.
