Description	:	John Winesett Dies Sept. 26 John Winesett, prominent Carroll Countian, died Friday morning in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Winesett possessed many friends and Was well liked throughout the County. Mr. Winesett, who lived on RFD 1, Hillsville, was Carroll's only polio victim of the year. He had been in Roanoke Memorial Hospital since August 27. He was Virginia's fourth polio victim to die this year. The victim had not received Salk vaccine. An estimated crowd of 1500 attended the funeral Sunday afternoon at the Church of the Brethren. Rev. Donald Clay, pastor of the church Dr. H. O. Wilson, of the First Christian Church, Roanoke and Elder Ray Rotenizer, Primitive Baptist minister, conducted the service. In addition to the wife, Mrs. Geneva Taylor Winesett and two sons, John David and Blaine Douglas, survivors include: Parents: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar B. Winesett, six sisters, Mrs. Kermit Littreal and Mrs. Lundy, both of Galax, Baine Harmon and Mrs. Glenn Newman, both of Hillsville, Mrs. R. E. Combs, Fayetteville, N. C. and Mrs. Everett Sumner, Staunton, VA., Mr. Winesett is a nephew of State Senator, S. Floyd Landreth, Galax. Carroll News 10-2-1958
